Where Young Voices Shape Democracy
Fun, curriculum aligned political education workshops for schools!

About us
At The Democracy Classroom, we run fun and educational civics workshops for primary and secondary students. Our signature Mock Parliament experience helps students understand government, explore big ideas, and develop leadership skills.
What we do
-
🏛️ Mock Parliament Workshops
Students step into the shoes of Members of Parliament, debating real-world issues in a guided, age-appropriate setting. Through roleplay, collaborative discussion, and structured debate, students learn how laws are made, how the parliamentary system works, and the value of respectful civic discourse.
-
🗳️ Mock Voting & Electoral Workshops
We run engaging, hands-on sessions where students experience the voting process—from understanding campaign platforms to casting their ballots. This builds awareness of how democracy functions and the importance of every vote.
-
📚 Civics & Citizenship Education
Aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, our workshops help students explore government systems, rights and responsibilities, democratic values, and global citizenship. Each session is tailored to suit the year level and can be adapted to support classroom units.
-
🧠 Critical Thinking & Debate Skills
We embed debate, discussion, and ethical reasoning into every workshop. Students are encouraged to think critically about real social and political issues, form evidence-based opinions, and build confidence in speaking publicly.
-
🎨 Customised Programs
Want something unique? We collaborate with teachers to develop custom programs that support classroom learning goals—whether it’s a one-off incursion, a multi-day civics unit, or a themed event like NAIDOC Week or International Democracy Day.
-
The Democracy Classroom specialises in delivering school incursions that connect deeply with the Victorian Curriculum, particularly in the areas of Civics & Citizenship, Ethical Understanding, and Critical & Creative Thinking.

About me
A recent graduate with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Politics and International Studies, and someone deeply passionate about civic engagement and education.
This initiative was created to give back — to help young Australians better understand how to vote, how parliament works, and why their voices matter. Growing up, there was always a desire for civics education that felt real, relevant, and empowering. That’s exactly what these workshops aim to offer: practical, engaging experiences that make democracy accessible and exciting for every student.
